Michigan Weed Sales top $1 billion Last Year

Michigan sales of recreational marijuana hit the $1 billion mark during fiscal year 2021 and will result in $42.2 million being distributed to counties and communities across Michigan.

Under the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act, which was approved by voters in November 2018 to legalize recreational marijuana, tax revenue and fees collected from 374 licensed retailers and microbusinesses.

In Oakland County, Walled Lake ($169,360), Hazel Park ($338,720), Ferndale ($169,360), and Madison Heights ($112,906) will receive funding. In Macomb County, Utica ($112,906) and Centerline ($225,813) will receive funding while Wise Township ($56,453) and Mount Pleasant ($56,453) will receiving funding in Isabella County.

The governments of Isabella ($112,906), Macomb ($338,720), Oakland ($790,348), and Wayne ($959,708) counties will receive funding as well.
